On 20 March 2010 the Victoria and Albert Museum in London will open its first ever exhibition of British quilts. The 65 examples to be shown will date from 1700 to the present day, with previously unseen quilts from the V&A’s collection alongside national loans. The earliest examples include a silk and velvet bedcover, with a narrative that links it to King Charles II's visit to an Exeter manor house in the late 17th century.

A preview of the exhibition will be in the next issue of HALI out in March 2010.
