Safavid Carpets, Mughal Textiles: HALI tours Blythe House

As part of the programme of HALI Tour events in London in June 2015, a group visited the  V&A stores at Blythe House, around the corner from Olympia. The tour was guided by curators Moya Carey, Tim Stanley and Rosemary Crill, with added expert commentary and lively discussion from Michael Franses and the entire Sotheby’s international rug team. Dr Carey introduced a selection of Safavid carpets and carpet fragments, inlcuding many of the ‘Vase’ genre. This was followed by a review of some of the out-takes from Dr Crill’s upcoming major exhibition of Indian textiles.
