Wicker shield, Guadalcanal or New Georgia, Solomon Islands. This type of shield was found in New Georgia, Guadalcanal and Santa Isabel. The shield is made of a wooden frame and then interlaced with wicker. The shield is very light and can deflect spears and arrows. On the bottom is a pattern which resembles a frigate bird.
