About the Author
Fritz Langauer the son of businessman Friedrich Langauer who founded Adil Besim OHG after the second world war. Fritz Langauer joined the company in 1957 with its five branches, it developed over the years to become one of the largest department stores in Europe. Through many trips in search of old and antique carpets and flat-weaves, he has been able to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the entire spectrum of the industry. Ernest A. Swielty born in Vienna in 1936, Ernest worked as a dedicated journalist for fifty years travelled the carpet-producing countries of the world, gradually discovering the secrets of woven and knotted works of art. Together with his wife he bought a modest collection of fine and characteristic oriental carpets and tried to perfect his knowledge of this fascinating genre of textile art.
