‘A Life in Colour’ at Naziri, Hamburg
Lila Valadan and Weddad Naziri have announced their first exhibition of Persian nomad rugs, ‘A Life in Colour’. From Friday 31st October 2014 at M. Naziri OHG’s newly redecorated warehouse in the Hamburg free port (Brooktorkai 15) they will be showing 64 selected pieces from the private collection of the late Mohammad Naziri, ranging from original Qashqa’i gabbehs (deep piled sleeping rugs) from southwest Persia to beautiful abstract Mazandaran flatweaves from the mountains bordering the southern shore of the Caspian Sea. Of their selection they say “Nomad rugs are probably the earliest form of today’s modernity. With their similarity to impressionist art they are the discovery of the modern, before the modern.”
