A selection of Islamic masterworks from Kuwait’s al-Sabah Collection are on display at The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, until 26 January 2014, as part of a long-term collaboration with the Kuwait National Museum, Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah (DAI).

In response to popular demand, ‘Skill of the Hand, Delight of the Eye’, the Sadberk Hanım Museum’s current exhibition in Istanbul of of Turkish embroidery has been extended until the end of June 2013.

Hurry, there’s still time to see the exhibition ‘Ninety-nine Names of God: Classical Art of the Islamic World from the IX to XIX Centuries’, on show for another ten days at the A.S. Pushkin State Museum of Arts, Moscow. Open until 26th May, 2013, the display shows ninety-nine masterpieces of Islamic Art from the collections of the Mardjani Foundation.

From the Exotic to the Mystical: Woven Treasures from the Permanent Collection, at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park until 4 August 2013, consists of more than 40 objects, most never before on public display, representing 15 centuries of textile arts drawn from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco’s extensive holdings.

Red, White and Bold: Masterworks of Navajo Design, 1840-1870, at the Denver Art Museum until 22 September 2013, presents about 50 of the greatest examples of Navajo design expression.

This week the Denver Art Museum (DAM) will be unveiling a new gallery space, Cover Story, which will exhibit over sixty artefacts from the museum’s textile collection. The objects explore the ways in which textiles have been used by different cultures across centuries of time.
