: Ushak, acquired from Peter Bausback, Mannheim in 1999, 107 x 94 cm, 17th century, Schürmann „Orientteppiche“ 1966 (Sign. I 22)This unique carpet was exhibited in 1926 in Chicago by the „Art Club of Chicago“ however erroneously described as Gördes in the catalog of A.U.Pope. Carpets with similar border have been made frequently in Gördes as Kis Gördes 200 years later (Wedding carpets). In addition, described in Schürmann Ulrich, ‘Oriental rugs’, 1966 labelled as white-ground Ushak

Specialist oriental and collector’s carpet company, Franz Bausback of Mannheim are to show an important South German antique carpet collection at TEFAF Maastricht, 13 – 23 March 2015. The group contains several Anatolian rugs and fragments as well as Mamluk, Damascus and Cairene examples, all dating from the 15th – 17th century.
