Uzbek Suzanis, Anatolian Kilims, Persian and Caucasian Flatweaves: The Vok Sale, Wiesbaden, 25 March 2017
The third and final auction by Rippon Boswell of antique Central Asian suzani embroideries, Anatolian kilims, and Persian/Caucasian flatweaves from the incomparable Ignazio Vok Collection is to be held at Rippon Boswell’s Friedrichstrasse salesroom on Saturday 25 March 2017. The sale is of similar size (about 90 lots), superb quality and compositional mix (some very high-end suzanis and Caucasian covers, with more modestly estimated graphic kilims and other flatweaves) as its extremely successful predecessors, and is expected to attract a full house as well as considerable international interest online.
At a reception to be held on the evening preceding the sale, Bruce Baganz, President of the Board of Trustees at the Textile Museum in Washington DC, will present the collector, Ignazio Vok, and the auctioneer, Detlef Maltzahn, with the Near Eastern Art Research Center’s Joseph V. McMullan Award for Scholarship and Stewardship in the field of Islamic Carpets.
