Lawrence Kearney – Skinner Boston’s new Rug Man

Following Gary Richards’ retirement, Skinner in Boston have appointed Lawrence Kearney as Specialist in the Oriental Rugs and Carpets department, where he will be assisted by Erika Jorjorian. Kearney, well known internationally as an independent dealer based in Massachusetts and as an engaging lecturer and writer (for HALI and, for those with long memories, Oriental Rug Review – remember Dr Kabistan?) will hold his first sale on January 25, 2014. The announcement follows soon after the sad news of the death of another of Kearney’s predecessors, Louise Woodhead Feuerstein , who was responsible for launching Skinner so successfully into the specialist carpet and textile auctions business in the early 1980s.
