Asian Art in Brussels 2015
Asian Art in Brussels (AAB) will take place 10-14 June 2015 in the Belgian capital in conjunction with Brussels Ancient Art Fair (BAAF) and Brussels non-European Art Fair (BRUNEAF).
A total of eighty international galleries will take part across the three fairs, including a number of first time exhibitors. This year, AAB will welcome three new galleries specialising in Japanese painting and graphics: Ibasho (Antwerp), Hotei (Leiden) and Oranda Jin (‘s Hertogenbosch), all of which can be found in the Sablon area. Returning dealers include Carlo Cristi (Italy), Gisèle Croës (Brussels) and Astamangala (Amsterdam).
Collector Stanislas Gokelaere said: ‘The fair has been a required stop for all serious collectors since the beginning. It’s very well organised by a dealer association and provides an opportunity to see a remarkable concentration of quality items in one place. I come to find one-of-a-kind pieces, unearthed by dealers who are always in touch with the leading collectors.’
A programme of lectures will accompany the fairs, covering topics including Japanese prints in the Royals Museums of Art and History in Brussels, the diffusion of Buddhist iconography and north Indian weapons and warriors.
