Madge Gill: Myrninerest, William Morris Gallery
Madge Gill was born in Walthamstow and spent most of her years living in East London. A self-taught, visionary artist, she created meticulous artworks, many of which she attributed to Myrninerest, her spirit-guide that she came to embody.
From 22 June to 22 September 2019, the William Morris Gallery will host a landmark exhibition ‘Madge Gill: Myrninerest’ in Gill’s home town. This will be the most comprehensive survey of Gill’s work to date. The display will incorporate a collection of her drawings, newly uncovered large-scale embroideries, textiles and archival objects, many of which have never been exhibited before.
The exhibition ‘Madge Gill: Myrninerest’ opens at the William Morris Gallery on Friday 21 June, 7.00-9.00 pm.
