Sartirana: Antique carpets and textiles in Italy
The 9th edition of the Sartirana Textile Show closes on Sunday 22 September 2013.
The location of the event, about an hour outside Milan, means that the show is quieter than it deserves to be since the quality of the presentation, material and dealers is of the highest order.
The setting in the ancient rice granary, La Pila in Sartirana Lomellina, is unequalled and the space for eating, relaxing and chatting makes this event very special. There are a number of special events associated with the fair this year, including small mosaics of rugs made by a Canadian artist, a special exhibition of the work of US designer Ken Scott, a show of bags brought together from the stock of the participating dealers as well as a 15th century scarsella or bag lent by the Bardini Foundation in Florence.
There are some obvious highlights this year: a white ground Kuba rug on the stand of Parvizyar, the Anatolian kilim display on David Sorgato’s stand, the ex-Orient Stars Central Antolian kilim with Serkan Sari as well as the high quality workshop carpets shown by Mollaian.
