The Santa Fe Show: Objects of Art, August 2013

More than 65 exhibitors will be showing at the 4th annual Santa Fe Show: Objects of Art, taking place from 9 to 13 August 2013 at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, New Mexico. The five day show will see material from around the world ranging from contemporary to historic, including paintings, sculpture, and fine art of all kinds, furniture, books, fashion, jewellery, textiles, and tribal, folk, American Indian, African, and Asian art.

The ‘Special Exhibit‘ for 2013 will feature 36 artefacts from the Ralph T. Coe Foundation collection of Native American, African, and Oceanic objects. This selection is representative of Coe’s collecting interests over his lifetime and is curated by Bruce Bernstein with Tad Dale and assisted by Lisa Hsu Barrera, Ralph T. Coe Foundation Fellow 2013. It will remain on show through to August 31 2013. Coe was one of the most scholarly private collectors of Native American art as well as being a highly respected museum professional. His scholarship of Indian material was extraordinary for its time. He accumulated more than 1,000 objects spanning North America from 3,000 BC to nearly the present day — totem-pole models, masks, moccasins, leather shirts, tobacco pipes, baskets, pottery, textiles, and other items.
