Galleria Battilossi have opened a new showroom in Turin with an inaugural ‘Antique Textile Art I’ exhibition of exceptional antique textiles from a prominent private collection.
Sotheby’s London sale on 6 November is led by a group of twenty-three carpets from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection in Madrid. The consignment includes a handful of classical Ushak, Esfahan and Caucasian rugs and fragments, as well as some particularly good Chinese and East Turkestan rugs.
Spanning the spaces of Friedman Benda and Albertz Benda in New York, ‘Under the Night Sky’ will run until 15 December 2018. The show explores the numerous ways in which the frontier of the night sky influences the human psyche and continues to hold artists in its grip.
At Christie’s in London on 25 October, the all-encompassing ‘Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds’ sale includes more than eighty other rugs and carpets, from most time periods and weaving cultures.
‘Oceania’ will open this Saturday 29 September and run until 10 December at the Royal Academy of Arts, to mark the RA’s 250th anniversary. This exhibition will be the first ever major survey of Oceanic art to be held in the United Kingdom.
