On Thursday 24 May 2018, Sotheby’s in New York will offer some 180 works of 20th-century European and American design, including one carpet of appropriate period and pedigree.
Thursday 26 April 2018 was a very good day for classical-period carpets in the London salerooms.
Christie’s forthcoming sale Arts of the Islamic and Indian Worlds features a selection of 70 carpets from the past five centuries, highlighting the various weaving centres within the Islamic world, from Spain to China.
Significant rugs and textiles are not limited to specialised auctions or even Islamic and Asian art sales. A case in point is the upcoming Important Design auction at Bonhams in London on 25 April 2018.
